Russian authorities busted an imported shipment of North Korean peanuts in a rare case of compliance with U.N. sanctions, documents reviewed by NK News show, while revealing a new trade channel between the two states.

    In May 2025, NK News reported that Vladivostok-based Imex Global planned to procure several dozen tons of peanuts from Korea Taedonggang Trading Corporation, despite U.N. resolutions that ban Pyongyang from exporting agricultural products, including produce.
