Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has received a delegation led by Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zimbabwe Jacob Mudenda, who is visiting the country, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for developing political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe, expanding interparliamentary cooperation, and cooperation opportunities in education, tourism, the mining industry, agriculture, the implementation of the ASAN Service model in public service delivery, and other areas of mutual interest.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance Azerbaijan attaches to developing relations with African countries, noting that mutual visits and parliamentary diplomacy make a significant contribution to strengthening bilateral relations. In this context, the importance of continuing mutual support and cooperation within international organizations was highlighted.
The parties emphasized the significance of the initiatives promoted by Azerbaijan during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as the outcomes achieved within the framework of COP29 in advancing the interests of developing countries.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Zimbabwe on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term and stated that Azerbaijan is ready to work closely with Zimbabwe during this period of responsibility. The parties emphasized the importance of cooperation within the UN and other multilateral platforms, as well as joint efforts to promote the norms and principles of international law.
The sides also discussed cooperation within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The minister also provided the other side with detailed information on the regional situation, the former conflict and the current peace agenda, as well as the restoration and reconstruction efforts being carried out in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
