Organizations across New Mexico now have an opportunity to compete for millions of dollars in state funding designed to strengthen healthcare services in underserved communities.The New Mexico Health Care Authority has opened applications for its new Rural Health Innovation Fund, a $47 million grant program focused on expanding access to care in rural, frontier and Tribal areas. The initiative is part of the state’s broader Rural Health Transformation Program, which aims to improve long-term health care delivery outside major population centers.Eligible applicants include hospitals, Tribal governments, community organizations, local governments, academic institutions and regional partnerships. Funding can be used for a wide range of projects, including expanding medical services, purchasing equipment, improving patient navigation, developing regional partnerships and other locally driven health care solutions.State officials said proposals should demonstrate a clear community need while outlining measurable outcomes and a plan to sustain the project after grant funding ends.Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. MDT on July 27 through the Health Care Authority’s procurement portal.
