Senior police officer Georgi Karageorgiev from the Zonal Gendarmerie Department in Burgas has joined an international policing mission in Paris, where he will help patrol some of the French capital’s busiest tourist areas over the next three weeks, Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry announced.
Karageorgiev is part of a multinational team made up of officers from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Switzerland, Portugal, and Italy. The group will work alongside personnel from the Directorate of Local Security of the Paris Metropolitan Area (DSPAP) as part of the European joint police teams initiative.
During the three-week deployment, the officers will support local police in maintaining security and assisting with policing duties in popular tourist locations across Paris.
According to the Interior Ministry, the initiative reflects ongoing cooperation between European law enforcement agencies aimed at strengthening public safety through joint international patrols.
The Paris Police Prefecture welcomed the deployment and extended its support to the multinational team, “wishing them success in their joint work” during the mission.
