Romania’s acting Defence Minister Radu Miruță said that five maritime drones had been detected and neutralised in the Black Sea.
According to Miruță, some of the detected drones carried explosives, while others did not, News.Az reports, citing Ukrainska Pravda.
“Drone debris was found at sea after they had been destroyed; some of them contained explosive material, and others did not,” he said.
He added that four of these cases occurred before the drone explosion in the port of Constanța, and one afterwards.
Responding to a question about the drone explosion in the port of Constanța and why the Romanian army had not released a report on the incident independent of information provided by the Ukrainian side, Miruță stressed that responsibility for port security in peacetime does not lie with the military.
“The Romanian army does not provide security for the port of Constanța in peacetime. It is one of Romania’s state institutions that, in such situations and when requested to provide support, intervenes. There are other state structures which, under the law, are responsible for this in peacetime,” he said.
