A special exhibition highlighting Seoul’s history, culture, and modern lifestyle has opened at the Korean Cultural Center in Warsaw, Poland, from July 9 to September 4.
Organized by the Seoul Museum of History and the Korean Cultural Center in Poland, the exhibition, titled “The Charm of Seoul – From Traditional Elegance to Modern Life,” is part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Touring K-Arts program.
The museum was selected for the initiative for the second consecutive year, following exhibitions in Mexico and the United States.
The exhibition explores the Korean concept of pungnyu, a traditional appreciation of nature, art, and social life, tracing its evolution from the leisure culture of Joseon-era scholars to modern Seoul traditions, including retro-inspired neighborhoods and the city’s popular Han River lifestyle.
Visitors will experience the exhibition through three themed sections. The first showcases life in late Joseon-era Seoul with historical paintings, ceramics, and artifacts depicting gatherings, music, and poetry.
The second focuses on contemporary Seoul, recreating the atmosphere of Euljiro with industrial-inspired displays, neon lighting, modern hanbok, and design goods.
The final section offers interactive experiences, including a Han River picnic setting, a Korean instant ramen cooking station, and a four-cut photo booth inspired by one of Korea’s most popular social activities.
Additional programs, including lectures, cultural events, and tourism information promoting Seoul, will also be offered throughout the exhibition.
