Democrats on Tuesday blocked the US Senate from considering the annual defense policy bill in protest over the war with Iran and the measure’s $1.15 trillion price tag.

    Senate Democrats in a 50-46 vote sunk a procedural move to advance the National Defense Authorization Act that requires 60 votes in order to pass.

    Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who rallied his caucus against the procedural step, said before the vote that he was a “strong no.”
