Burnham is set to become the UK Labour Party’s new leader in a matter of hours before being sworn in as the country’s newest Prime Minister on Monday, following the resignation of Sir Keir Starmer.
As the Guardian reports, Burnham has had the overwhelming backing of MPs, and his operation at Downing Street is beginning to form with many of Starmer’s aides expected to remain.
Burnham’s cabinet and those picked for the top No 10 jobs are expected to be confirmed on Monday, according to the Guardian’s sources.
As well as Munro, this team is also expected to include others brought in from the private sector.
Starmer stepped down as Prime Minister after almost two years in office amid waning support of his own MPs and a drop in public popularity. In his first speech as Labour leader, Burnham vowed to fix the “big things” politics had neglected.
