Two German climbers died in separate accidents in the Austrian Alps on Saturday, police said.
In the western state of Vorarlberg, a German tourist fell about 100 metres from a via ferrata route near the German border after losing his balance while unclipping his safety equipment, police said. The man had earlier complained of exhaustion and said he had underestimated the climb.
In a separate incident in the Ă–tztal Alps in Tyrol, a 63-year-old German man fell about 200 metres while descending the Wildspitze mountain, police said. He was part of a guided climbing group and died from his injuries.
Both bodies were recovered by police helicopter.
