Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas stated that, due to its inability to defeat Ukraine, the Kremlin is seeking alternative scenarios and views the Baltic states and Poland as the most likely next targets.
According to him, the Russian army is suffering defeats on the front lines and is unable to defend its own country from daily strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, while the fuel crisis in Russia is causing the local population to question the authorities’ statements. Because of this, dictator Vladimir Putin needs a new escalation and a victory in the Baltic region.
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda also warned of the Kremlin’s intentions to stage provocations in Poland or the Baltic states. According to intelligence reports, one of Russia’s key objectives is to test NATO’s unity through hybrid tactics or conventional military means, particularly through attacks on critical infrastructure.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian army could attack a NATO member state within the next five years. This would test the alliance’s resilience.
Before meeting with an American delegation consisting of U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, dictator Putin stated that Russia is allegedly ready to go to war with Europe but has no such intention.
In the event of a Russian attack on NATO members, the Alliance could launch a preemptive strike against targets on Russian territory, according to Admiral Rob Bauer, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy considers it entirely possible that Russia could open a second front against another European country even before the war in Ukraine ends.
