The presidential office has postponed a meeting of senior presidential aides that was set for Monday to discuss how to share excess corporate profit with society.
The top office decided to postpone the meeting, which was set to be chaired by President Lee Jae Myung, due to agenda changes.
The postponement comes after presidential chief of staff Kang Hoon-sik reportedly attended a small gathering earlier in the day in which some senior aides expressed the view that the top office should first monitor discussions on the topic within the broader society.
Some observers have speculated that the meeting was put off out of concern that it could have had a negative impact on the stock market at a time when the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index was showing signs of faltering.
But the top office says discussions on excess profit have nothing do with stock price trends.
