As part of the “Army at Your Doorstep” initiative, members of the Engineering Company of the Army of Montenegro are engaged in the village of Konjuhe, in the municipality of Andrijevica, where they are carrying out work on the opening of a local road, with the aim of enabling road connectivity and access to houses that have not had adequate traffic connections so far.

Members of the Engineering Company and locals were visited today by the Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, Fight against Crime and Internal Policy Aleksa Bečić, Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, Brigadier General Miodrag Vuksanović.

Bečić, the Ministry of Defense announced, assessed that the “Army at Your Doorstep” campaign represents one of the most significant activities of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro aimed at supporting citizens and local communities.

“The Army of Montenegro has been meeting the demands of citizens and local governments almost every day for months. In Andrijevica, work is being done on several road routes, and the reconstruction and paving of about 30 kilometers of roads represent an impressive result of the work of our Engineering Unit and Support Battalion. It is especially pleasing that after several decades, the road has reached households that never had it. It is not about one, but about dozens of households. There is nothing more humane or beautiful than improving the living conditions of citizens and making everyday life easier for people, especially in the north of Montenegro. The results we see today in Andrijevica confirm that the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro, in addition to their regular missions, are successfully achieving their third mission, direct support to citizens and the development of local communities. The greatest value of such activities is the fact that they leave behind concrete results that make people’s everyday lives easier. When institutions work together in the interest of citizens, the result is deeds that remain and serve the community,” said Bečić.

Krapović, it was announced, expressed his satisfaction at having had the opportunity to visit the works carried out in the municipality of Andrijevica by the Engineering Company of the Support Battalion of the Army of Montenegro. He assessed that the works carried out were of particular importance for the residents of this region, emphasizing that almost 40 kilometers of local roads were repaired, which enabled numerous households, after several decades, easier access to their homes, and for some, even the first access to their homes.

Krapović said that the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro will continue, through their third mission and in accordance with available capacities, to provide support to local communities, especially in the north of the country, with the aim of improving the living and working conditions of the population.

The President of the Municipal Assembly of Andrijevica, Vesko Raketić, thanked everyone, especially the members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, who helped the citizens of this region.

Advisor to the Mayor of Andrijevica, Miloš Čujić, pointed out that the rehabilitation of these road routes will make life easier for citizens and improve the municipality’s tourist offer.

“During the visit, it was also emphasized that members of the Engineering Company had previously successfully completed work on the reconstruction of several road routes in the Andrijevica municipality. The sections Trešnjevik–Lisa (4 km), Trepča–Studenci (2,4 km), Previja–Bjeljega (4,5 km), Stavna–Božići (13 km) and Oblo brdo (5 km) were reconstructed, where reconstruction is still ongoing, thus restoring a total of about 30 kilometers of local road infrastructure. The works in the village of Konjuhe represent a continuation of the engagement of the Army of Montenegro in improving road connectivity and providing support to the citizens of this region,” the Ministry of Defense announced.
