West Marin pasture-raised meat business Stemple Creek Ranch is opening Petaluma store

A few months after the fourth-generation West Marin agribusiness consolidated headquarters and shipping in south Petaluma, Stemple Creek Ranch is opening a storefront there.

Stemple Creek’s wholesale and direct-to-consumer meat business was up and running in a portion of the former Miyoko’s vegan cheese plant at 2086 Marina Ave. in late January. Company officials told the Business Journal at the time about plans to open a space there for customers to pick up orders and eventually a store. The first part of that plan became reality July 3, with order pickup available at the company’s farmers’ market booths and at the Petaluma facility.

That also was the same day Tara Firma Farms ended its popular community-supported agriculture box service, the Argus-Courier reported. The Petaluma farm referred CSA box subscribers to Stemple Creek for meat and to the Feed Sonoma farmer cooperative for other foods.

Now, Stemple Creek is opening the Petaluma storefront Monday at 8 a.m., offering a gift to the first 10 patrons. The goal for this location is for customers to learn about the products such as subscription box and whole-animal share programs, plus the ranch’s award-winning regenerative farming practices, and meet the people behind the brand, according to an announcement. Other streams of revenue are ranch events and lodging.

Petaluma store hours will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
