Duryea Lions Club presents scholarships: Each year, the Duryea Lions Club awards graduating seniors from Duryea, selecting a male and female from area schools who receive the highest grade point averages. Sometimes students have ties to the Lions Club and that also is taken into consideration. The following students each received $300: Eshaal Ahmad and Alex Chen, Wyoming Seminary; James Tabone and Macelia Bulzoni, Scranton Prep; Evan McCoy and Ariana Cabelly, Holy Cross; Cole Severnak, Samantha Herbert and Emily Shovlin, Pittston Area. Holy Redeemer had no graduating seniors from Duryea this year.
