DULUTH, Minn. (KQDS-TV) – Minnesota First Lady Gwen Walz has endorsed Congresswoman Angie Craig for U.S. Senate.

Walz chose not to endorse her own husband’s Lieutenant Governor, Peggy Flanagan.

In a social media post, Walz wrote in part, “When everything we hold dear is at stake, we need a nominee who can win statewide – that’s Angie.”

Flanagan and Craig are both vying for the Democratic nomination for the Minnesota Senate seat that is up for election in November 2026.

Governor Tim Walz has not made an endorsement in the race.

Gwen Walz’s endorsement of Craig continued to say, “Her heart’s as big as Minnesota, and her record of winning tough races speaks for itself. She has the savvy, focus, and work ethic needed to get the job done and keep this seat blue.”

A recent KSTP/SurveyUSA poll showed the two deadlocked in a tie; Both at 40%.  Sixteen percent of respondents said they were undecided.

At the late-May 2026 DFL convention, the party endorsed Flanagan.
