Shin & Kim and Yulchon have counselled on Keistone Partners’ KRW400 billion (USD278 million) buyout of SSP, a semiconductor packaging and equipment manufacturer.

Shin & Kim advised LX Investment’s sale of its 100% stake in SSP to Keistone Partners, a South Korean private equity and alternative investment firm in a deal completed at the end of July.

“This transaction is meaningful for LX Investment as it stands as the firm’s largest-ever buyout, while also delivering a successful exit,” Hae Sung Jeong, lead partner of the transaction team, told Asia Business Law Journal.

Jeong said LX Investment had been a long-term client that Shin & Kim also represented when the company initially acquired SSP in 2023.

On the current mandate, Jeong said he handled all legal proceedings, encompassing the memorandum of understanding, share purchase agreement, legal review and transaction closing, with additional input from senior associate Dong Il Shin.

Keistone Partners selected Yulchon as its legal adviser for the transaction.

SSP specialises in ball mounters as its primary product. In the packaging process, ball mounters precisely place solder balls, or microscopic metal spheres, onto chip or substrate pads.

The company’s annual revenue in 2025 stood at KRW56.6 billion.
