Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev has accused Türkiye Gazetesi journalist Yılmaz Bilgen of distorting several remarks attributed to him in an article published on August 5.
“We had an interesting meeting with Turkish media representatives traveling in Azerbaijan. However, I must regrettably note that in the report published by journalist Yılmaz Bilgen of “Türkiye Gazetesi” on August 5, 2026, some statements attributed to me were presented in a distorted manner. A number of expressions cited in that article as coming from me are not accurate.

I would like to emphasize once again that the Republic of Azerbaijan pursues an independent and principled foreign policy guided by its national interests.”
