OneShield has appointed insurance technology executive Rick Becker as senior vice president of new products, a newly created position focused on developing and bringing new capabilities to market for the company’s property and casualty insurer and managing general agent customers.

Based in Marlborough, Massachusetts, OneShield said the role is intended to accelerate product innovation as insurers increasingly adopt AI and digital technologies across underwriting, claims and billing operations.

Becker brings decades of leadership experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, having held executive positions including president, chief operating officer, chief digital officer, chief information officer and executive vice president at organizations including DUAL North America, Align Financial Holdings, MAPFRE USA and AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah. His background includes developing digital insurance platforms, integrating MGA operations and modernizing legacy underwriting systems.

“Insurance technology is at an inflection point,” Becker said in a statement. “Carriers and MGAs are moving from experimenting with AI to running it inside daily underwriting and claims work, and the ones doing that well are already seeing it compound.”

Chief Executive Officer Tony Villa said Becker’s experience operating insurance businesses brings valuable customer insight to the company’s product development efforts.

“We did not hire Rick to fill a gap. We hired him to raise the bar,” Villa said. “Rick has spent decades on the customer side of our industry, running the exact businesses our software supports.”

The appointment comes as OneShield expands AI-native capabilities designed to integrate with insurers’ existing core systems. The company said it plans additional product announcements as those technologies become available to customers.

OneShield provides policy administration, billing and claims software for property and casualty insurers and MGAs. The company said insurers currently process more than $20 billion in premiums through its platform
