A piece of aviation history has been created as the world’s first Airbus A220 to wear the famous Star Alliance livery takes to the skies – and it belongs to Croatia Airlines.
The Croatian national carrier has offered a behind-the-scenes look at the transformation of its newest Airbus A220-300, which has been painted in the distinctive black-and-white colours of Star Alliance.
The aircraft, registered 9A-CAS and named Velika Gorica, is the tenth Airbus A220 to join the Croatia Airlines fleet.
The striking aircraft represents another milestone in the airline’s ambitious fleet renewal programme, which will ultimately see Croatia Airlines transition to an all-Airbus A220 fleet.
Star Alliance liveries are a familiar sight at airports around the world, with member airlines operating selected aircraft in the alliance’s distinctive colours.
But this is the first time the design has appeared on an Airbus A220, giving Croatia Airlines another aviation first as it continues the biggest fleet modernisation programme in its history.
The airline is expected to receive further A220 aircraft as it moves towards completing the transition to an entirely A220-based fleet in 2027.
