Srinagar, August 10 (KNS) : Two Ph.D. scholars from the Faculty of Forestry, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), are set to represent the University at an international summer school in Tartu, Estonia, marking another step towards strengthening global academic exposure and research collaboration at the University.
Sadaf Fayaz and Baria Beigh, Ph.D. scholars from the Division of Natural Resource Management (NRM), Faculty of Forestry, will participate in the International Summer School “ACT! Observation, Modelling and Acting for Sustainable Land-Use in the Context of Climate Change and Biodiversity” at the Estonian University of Life Sciences (EMU), Tartu.
The scholars will participate under the Erasmus+ project “ENTER: Environmental Open Data for Engaging Curricula and Research Training.” The international programme will bring together students, researchers and experts to explore emerging approaches in environmental observation, modelling, sustainable land-use planning, climate change and biodiversity.
The programme will provide the SKUAST-K scholars an opportunity to engage with researchers from different countries and gain exposure to contemporary tools, methodologies and research approaches that can strengthen their academic and doctoral work.
The international academic exchange is in line with the vision of Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof. (Dr.) Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who has emphasized strengthening international collaborations, student mobility and research partnerships to enhance the University’s global academic footprint.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Prof. Ganai congratulated the scholars and appreciated the efforts being made to provide SKUAST-K students and researchers with opportunities for international exposure, learning and collaboration.
Prof. A. H. Mughal, Dean, Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K, welcomed the initiative and said that international exchange programmes provide students with broader perspectives on emerging scientific challenges and technologies. He noted that exposure to global academic and research environments enables scholars to acquire new skills, exchange ideas and build capacities to address increasingly complex environmental and natural resource challenges.
The programme is being coordinated by Dr. Akhlaq Amin Wani, Principal Investigator, Erasmus+ ENTER Project, Division of Natural Resource Management, Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K.
The ENTER project aims to develop a sustainable, data-driven model for strengthening academia–community engagement in India and Malaysia through the use of environmental open data, information and communication technologies, living laboratories and closer integration of research, education and community engagement.
The participation of the two scholars in the international summer school adds to SKUAST-K’s growing focus on global research exposure, international academic mobility and collaborative approaches to addressing climate and biodiversity challenges.(KNS)
