Silverstone is truly the home of unpredictability, with legendary showdowns, countless unforgettable memories and now 12 winners from the last 12 editions. Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) is the latest star to enter the Silverstone spotlight following a dominant display. And with that, it gives us the perfect opportunity to head back in time and look back at who has reigned supreme at this historic venue.
2013: Lorenzo defeats rookie Marquez
First up, 2013. It’s a race which needs no introduction as Jorge Lorenzo and MotoGP rookie Marc Marquez traded blows. It was a battle for the ages, instantly becoming a modern classic as Lorenzo clinched victory by 0.081s – need we say anymore?
2014: Redemption for Marquez
Marc Marquez was looking for more in 2014, heading into Silverstone with impressive form after winning 10 of the opening 11 Grands Prix. Marc Marquez was victorious, beating Lorenzo this time around in what is still the #93’s only premier class victory at Silverstone, for now…
2015: Rossi weathers the conditions
Mastering the conditions in 2015 was The Doctor. Valentino Rossi claimed his first and only Silverstone victory in tricky wet conditions, taking the Championship lead in the process after Marc Marquez crashed out during what proved to be a dramatic second half of the year.
2016: Viñales creates Suzuki history
Maverick Viñales charged to a historic victory at the 2016 British GP, tallying up a career-first MotoGP victory. It was also Suzuki’s first win since returning to the premier class, marking a special moment and a sign of things to come for the factory and rider.
2017: Dovizioso takes control at Silverstone
Prime Dovi: our 2017 trip to Silverstone was all about Andrea Dovizioso as the Italian star pounced late to earn his fourth victory of the season. Dovizioso took the Championship lead too, taking full advantage of Marc Marquez’s DNF following technical troubles.
2019: Rins pips Marquez
After the cancellation of the 2018 British GP, anticipation couldn’t be higher in 2019, and to say it delivered would be an understatement. Alex Rins vs Marc Marquez, Suzuki vs Honda. Rins pipped Marc Marquez at the line, clinching victory by 0.013s in one of the closest MotoGP finishes EVER!
2021: Quartararo’s British masterclass
Simply put, nobody was stopping Fabio Quartararo at Silverstone in 2021; the Frenchman was on a charge for the MotoGP crown. It was a fifth win of the season for Quartararo, winning by over two seconds. However, it was a special day for more than one reason, with Aprilia clinching their maiden premier class podium in the MotoGP era!
2022: Bagnaia’s streak begins
2022 was an incredible year for Francesco Bagnaia, with the British GP arriving at the perfect time for the Italian. It came in the middle of a four-race win streak, at a pivotal point of the season which eventually helped the #63 lift his first MotoGP crown. It was a nail-biting conclusion, with the podium trio separated by 0.614s.
2023: Aprilia and Espargaro triumph at Silverstone
Emotional and certainly deserved. The 2023 British GP was a special occasion for Aleix Espargaro and the Noale factory as they clinched their first dry win in the MotoGP era. A magical day which went down to the wire as Espargaro became the ninth winner in many races at Silverstone.
2024: Bastianini’s vintage win
Win number 10! Enea Bastianini experienced the perfect trip to Silverstone in 2024 – winning both Saturday’s Sprint and Sunday’s Grand Prix. There was a special vintage livery to match the occasion too as MotoGP celebrated its 75th birthday with some incredible retro-looking bikes.
2025: Bezzecchi’s Silverstone surprise
Another Aprilia star on top at Silverstone, sound familiar? Last year Marco Bezzecchi became the 11th different winner at the British GP in as many races – following an epic ride. The Italian took his first win with the Noale factory, charging to victory after heartbreak for Fabio Quartararo.
2026: Fernandez continues the Silverstone streak
Here we are then, 12 winners from 12 British GPs! Raul Fernandez completes our list after an astonishing display in 2026. Fernandez led from the start, controlling the pace and the race as the #25 finished over two seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Jorge Martin. Silverstone, you can’t write it!
