It had been rumoured for days, if not weeks, but now it has finally happened. Portugal’s football legend Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-time love Georgina Rodríguez have tied the knot. Their ‘I do’ was made official at a private ceremony in Cascais – and the couple made the announcement on Instagram, posting a photo of their hands wearing their wedding rings, with the caption: “C <3 G”.
Today (August 11) marks exactly a year since 32-year-old Georgina Rodríguez revealed Ronaldo’s marriage proposal to the world, by posting a photo on her Instagram page showing a huge diamond engagement ring on her left ring finger, with the caption: “Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas (Yes, I do. In this life and in all my lives)”.
Given the discreet nature of the Instagram post, very little was known about the ceremony, at first. Media outlets seemed to agree that it took place in Cascais and was attended only the couple’s closest friends and family. A short press release later updated everyone with the fact that the ceremony was actually only attended by the couple’s five children.
CR7 and Georgina are parents to Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda. Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, is also the father of 15-year-old Cristianinho and eight-year-old twins Eva and Mateo, who were born via surrogacy.
