MEA on Monday said it has taken up the matter “strongly” with Slovenian authorities in New Delhi and Ljubljana and called for the perpetrators to be held accountable
India on Monday strongly condemned the alleged defacement of the Indian Embassy premises in Ljubljana, Slovenia, by anti-India elements and urged Slovenian authorities to hold those responsible accountable.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the matter has been taken up “strongly” with Slovenian authorities in both New Delhi and Ljubljana.
“We condemn the defacement of the premises of our Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia by anti-India elements,” the MEA said.
“Under the Vienna Convention, diplomatic premises are inviolable and must be protected. We have taken up the matter strongly with Slovenian authorities, both in New Delhi and in Ljubljana, so that the perpetrators behind such reprehensible acts are held accountable,” it added.
The ministry also called on law enforcement authorities “elsewhere” to take note of the “hateful propaganda and disinformation” being spread by such groups.
It is learnt that some pro-Khalistani elements were involved in the incident.
