Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates-XRG won the fourth stage of the Vuelta a España in Andorra. He attacked around 50 km from the finish and rode solo to the finish in Andorra la Vella in 2 hours, 40 minutes and 35 seconds. The stage was reported by Channel NewsAsia.
Attack on the mountain stage
Pogačar broke away on the road to the second climb. At the summit of the Collada de Beixalís pass, he was 1 minute and 30 seconds ahead of the chasing group, which included Enric Mas, Primož Roglič, Felix Gall, Richard Carapaz and Oscar Onley.
Before the final climb, the Slovenian’s advantage stood at 3 minutes and 12 seconds. Jarno Widar won the sprint for second place, finishing 2 minutes and 39 seconds behind the winner. Felix Gall finished third.

Leadership in the general classification
Pogačar retained the lead in the general classification and is 3 minutes and 21 seconds ahead of compatriot Primož Roglič of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe. Spain’s Enric Mas of Movistar is third, another 11 seconds behind Roglič.
On the opening climb, Pogačar rode in the third group, around 32 seconds behind the leaders. Early attacks were neutralized on the descent from the first mountain pass. Lorenzo Fortunato of Astana was the first to cross the summit of Port d’Envalira and collected mountain points.
This is Pogačar’s second appearance in the Spanish Grand Tour in seven years. The cyclist aims to win the Vuelta for the first time and complete victories in all three Grand Tours.
