MALTA — An Albany man is accused of stealing more than 140 computers from a Saratoga County information technology firm he worked for.
Nolan M. Gaige, 35, allegedly carried out the thefts over several months, State Police announced Tuesday.
The computers that were stolen were worth more than $50,000, according to State Police. Police believe that Gaige sold the electronics and kept the money for himself. He was arrested on Aug. 18 and now faces one felony charge of second-degree grand larceny.
State troopers received a complaint on Aug. 7 from a business in Saratoga County reporting the theft. The complaint was made by cb20 CEO Chris Pickett, according to court records.
“It is a terrible situation,” Pickett said in a statement. “This young man worked productively for us for five years and got himself into trouble. We hate to see that happen. We have multiple systems in place that worked to ensure that he was caught. He did demonstrate immediate remorse, and we hope he can recover from this and turn his life around.”
Cb20 is an IT and audio-visual services firm based in Saratoga Springs. According to court records, the thefts occurred at 9 Stonebreak Road in Malta, which serves as the company’s operations facility.
Gaige turned himself in to State Police and was arraigned in Malta Town Court before being released.
