Lithuania Declares Storm Emergency for Agriculture

Lithuania’s government declared a state-level emergency across the country on 26 August following a storm that severely affected the agricultural sector. Why the emergency was declared

The nationwide measure was initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and adopted following an expert assessment by the National Crisis Management Centre within the Government Chancellery.

Applications for an assessment of destroyed agricultural plants must be submitted by email to oficialią kontaktinę informaciją no later than 7 September 2026.

Each application must include:

• The applicant’s full name or the name of the legal entity;
• Contact details;
• The location where the damage occurred;
• The type of plants damaged or destroyed;
• The preliminary area affected;
• Any other relevant information about the losses.

Farmers should also report other storm damage that caused losses to their agricultural activities, even if it did not involve destroyed crops.
