The FINEX Foundation Environment Committee will bring its “Plastic Heroes” Education Campaign to Pasig Elementary School on September 9, 2026 at 9:00 a.m., marking the second school rollout since the program launch at Pineda Elementary School on March 13, 2026.

This initiative aims to educate young learners on how plastic pollution affects our oceans and marine life, and to empower them to take action through the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

At the event, 500 students will participate in an interactive talk and take the “Plastic Heroes” Pledge—a commitment to cut down on single-use plastics and practice sustainable habits both in school and at home.

“Through this education campaign at Pasig Elementary School, the FINEX Foundation Environment Committee aims to teach 500 students how plastic pollution directly impacts our oceans and marine life. On September 9, these young learners will take the pledge to become Plastic Heroes by practicing the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—in their daily lives. We believe that by starting with our children, we can create lasting change that protects our seas and inspires families and communities to choose a more sustainable future,” Karla Hotchkiss-Rufino, chair of the FINEX Foundation Environment Committee.

The Philippines remains one of the top contributors of plastic waste to the ocean, with an estimated 2.7 million tons of plastic waste generated yearly. FINEX Foundation believes that education is the first step to behavioral change, and by reaching students early, we can build a generation of environmentally responsible citizens.

The “Plastic Heroes” campaign is part of FINEX Foundation’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability and community development. Following the successful launch at Pineda Elementary School, the Committee plans to expand the program to more schools in Metro Manila.
