BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – A Bradenton man who fled to Hungary in 2022 to avoid arrest on child exploitation charges has been returned to Florida to face charges, the Bradenton Police Department said Monday.
Csaba Nemeth, 48, a dual U.S.-Hungarian citizen, was taken into custody Aug. 28 in Hungary by FBI special agents. He is now being held at the Manatee County Jail on $650,000 bond.
Because investigators determined that Nemeth possessed more than 10 files containing child sexual abuse material, the change has been enhanced to a second-degree felony.

The investigation began in August 2022 after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children forwarded a tip to authorities in Florida. The report included a file believed to contain illegal material and an associated IP address connected to Nemeth’s home.
In September 2022, detectives searched Nemeth’s home and seized multiple electronic devices, where they allegedly found videos containing child sexual abuse material that belonged to Nemeth.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Nemeth in November 2022; but he had disappeared.
The FBI Sarasota Suncoast Child Exploitation Task Force ultimately tracked Nemeth to Hungary, and a federal arrest warrant was obtained for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Bradenton Police said this is the first time in more than 25 years that a Hungarian citizen has been extradited to the U.S.
