Belgrade, Serbia (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation arrived in Belgrade on Monday, where they were welcomed by senior Serbian government officials.
During the visit, Hassan Sheikh is expected to meet Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to discuss strengthening relations and cooperation between Somalia and Serbia.
The talks are expected to focus on political cooperation and issues of mutual interest between the two countries, according to Somali government statement.
Hassan Sheikh is also attending a high-level commemorative meeting in Belgrade marking the 65th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The commemorative conference is being held Sept. 1-2, 2026.
The first Non-Aligned Movement conference was held in Belgrade in 1961, bringing together countries that sought to remain independent of the major Cold War power blocs.
Somalia is among the countries invited to attend this year’s high-level anniversary event.
