24-year-old killed in Highway 99 crash near Sacramento-San Joaquin county line
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. —
Lanes on Highway 99 have reopened after a deadly multi-vehicle crash involving big rigs Wednesday afternoon. The crash impacted traffic for nearly 10 hours in Sacramento and San Joaquin counties.
California Highway Patrol said the crash involved two big rigs and two pickup trucks around 12:50 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 south of Jahant Road in the Galt area.
At least one person died in the crash. A woman on the scene told KCRA 3’s Anahita Jafary that her son, 24-year-old Jonathan Cervantes Torres, was killed.
Roads reopened around 10:40 p.m. Caltrans maps showed traffic was impacted from Acampo to Galt.
Details have not been released on what prompted the crash and the extent of any other injuries.
