The Wikimedians of Japan User Group (WJPUG) is calling for presenters for the Japan Wikimedia Conference 2026, to be held on Sunday, December 6, 2026, at the Keio University Mita Campus in Minato Ward, Tokyo. This conference aims to facilitate networking and the exchange of knowledge among individuals involved in the Wikimedia movement—both in Japan and abroad—as well as those who utilize Wikimedia projects and resources.
We aim to foster greater activity, collaboration, mutual support, and new initiatives by bringing together a diverse group of people—including contributors to various Wikimedia projects, those involved in offline activities like outreach, individuals utilizing Wikimedia content in their services, and even those simply interested in Wikimedia—to engage in discussion and the exchange of information.
This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the launch of the English Wikipedia in January 2001 and the Japanese Wikipedia in May of the same year. This conference aims to serve as a forum for building upon the Japanese-language community’s journey over the past quarter-century and expanding its horizons into the future. Additionally, an editathon will be held on the preceding day to conclude the Wikipedia 25th anniversary celebrations.
