Taking place from 25 to 27 September, this year’s edition will be bigger than before, extending for the first time across all five municipalities that make up the Ria Formosa: Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António.
There will be plenty to choose from over the weekend, including guided walks, cycling, canoeing, birdwatching and boat trips.
The activities will take place in different parts of the Ria Formosa, where people can explore the natural park and discover more of its wildlife and landscapes.
Stretching for around 60 kilometres along the eastern Algarve coast, the Ria Formosa is a coastal lagoon system made up of islands, channels, marshes and sandbanks. The protected area is particularly important for its biodiversity and is home to a large variety of bird and marine species.
The first day of the Algarve Nature Fest, 25 September, will be dedicated entirely to schools from the five participating municipalities.
The festival will then open to the general public on Saturday and Sunday, 26 and 27 September.
All activities are free to join, although advance registration is required due to limited places.
The Algarve Nature Fest is organised by the Algarve Tourism Region.
