RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Monument Health Rapid City Hospital has been recognized as a High Performing hospital by U.S. News & World Report for five conditions: heart arrhythmia, heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure and stroke.
U.S. News calls High Performing its highest distinction for the procedures and conditions included in its ratings.
The hospital was among nearly 4,500 evaluated nationwide. U.S. News said fewer than half of hospitals earned a High Performing designation in any of the 37 areas of care evaluated.
The ratings are based on measures including risk-adjusted mortality, preventable complications and patient experience. U.S. News said the analysis included more than 800 million patient-care records.
Monument Health Vice President of Quality, Safety and Risk Management Jill Tice said the recognition reflects the work of the hospital’s care teams and the outcomes they’re achieving in heart and stroke care.
U.S. News says the ratings are designed to give patients and their health care providers additional information when deciding where to seek care for serious conditions or elective procedures.
