KNL, a subsidiary of Telenor, has signed an agreement that will allow Denmark’s armed forces to buy its secure high-frequency (HF) communication systems.
The agreement Denmark’s Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) makes Denmark the third Nordic country to join KNL’s NORDEFCO framework, following Sweden and Finland.
The deal was signed through the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO), which supports joint defence procurement between the Nordic countries. Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden are all eligible to join the agreement.
Three orders have so far been publicly announced under the framework, with a combined value of around €23.5 million, the company revealed.
Telenor Head of Corporate Development Portfolio, Dan Ouchterlony, said: “Sweden and Finland have already built a strong foundation for Nordic cooperation around CNHF communications, and Denmark joining the framework agreement is a natural next step in broadening that work.
“It reflects a genuine and growing need for secure, independent communication across the region, as Nordic countries strengthen their ability to operate together.”
Denmark’s move follows KNL’s 10-year NORDEFCO framework agreement with the Finnish and Swedish armed forces. The agreement runs from 2025 to 2035 and covers the supply of CNHF communication systems.
KNL CEO, Toni Lindén, said: “With Denmark on board, we now have agreements with three of the Nordic defence forces. It’s a strong endorsement of our technology, and gives us a solid platform for further international growth. We’re seeing demand for independent, robust communication solutions increase in line with global security situation.
“We’re seeing a clear rise in demand. This agreement strengthens our position as a leading supplier of beyond line of sight connectivity.”
