Once again, Pol Espargarò will replace Maverick Viñales, this time for KTM’s home Grand Prix in Austria.

Maverick Viñales’ return is still not in sight. The Tech3 rider of the #12 KTM will miss the fourth consecutive Grand Prix, as the Continental Circus sets up shop in Austria, on the manufacturer’s home turf. Pol Espargarò, the brand’s test rider, will once again be lined up alongside Enea Bastianini.

Having already replaced Viñales at Silverstone, Aragón, and Misano, the #44 rider qualified for Q2 at the most recent Grand Prix, continuing to regain his form in a championship that imposes a unique rhythm and to which it is not always easy to adapt. KTM nevertheless hopes that Viñales will be fit for the Asian leg of the tour, which will begin in Japan from October 2nd to 4th.

“It’s very important for us to have Pol with us for our team’s home race in Austria,” explains Tech3 team manager Nicolas Goyon. “Every time he gets back on his bike, he seems more comfortable and more competitive, and Misano marked another positive step forward. We know we can rely on his experience and professionalism, and we’re looking forward to seeing him race in front of the ‘orange army’ this weekend. At the same time, our priority remains supporting Maverick’s recovery, and we hope to have him back with us as soon as possible.”
