Romanian Crown Custodian, Margareta, congratulates training ship ‘Mircea’ on return from Transatlantic Voyage

The Custodian of the Romanian Crown, Her Majesty Margareta, sent a congratulatory message to the crew of the training ship ‘Mircea’ upon their return from the Transatlantic Voyage, underscoring that the presence of the military personnel reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to the principles and values of the great transatlantic family.

‘It is with joy that I welcome the return to the country of the training ship ‘Mircea’ at the conclusion of a mission of great importance for the Romanian Naval Forces. Marking the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, our historic training ship joined a celebration involving many nations, at a time when the unity of the North Atlantic Alliance is essential for international security. The presence of our military personnel reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to the principles and values of the great transatlantic family. Upon your return home, I extend my warmest congratulations to the entire crew, military sailors and cadets alike, on the successful completion of this long mission. For 153 days, you carried the national flag across the world’s seas and oceans and, in the twelve countries where you docked, you conveyed the message of a Romania that is dignified, open, and loyal to its values,’ HM Margareta said on Wednesday.

The message brings to mind that ‘for nearly nine decades, ever since the training ship entered the service of the Romanian Naval Forces in 1939, during the reign of King Carol II, numerous generations have been trained, mastering not only the professional skills of a military sailor but also the discipline, responsibility, and team spirit inherent in this vocation.’

‘Through each of these training, study, and military practice voyages, the tradition lives on. I am convinced that the invaluable and unforgettable experience of these months will remain a significant milestone in the personal and professional development of each of you. Just as the young sailors of the 1930s did, today’s sailors carry out their duties with dignity, responsibility, and devotion to Romania and its aspirations. Prince Radu and I had the pleasure of meeting you before your departure and wishing you a safe journey. Today, upon your return, we have come once again, alongside your parents, families, and friends, to welcome you home. May God help us!,’ added the Custodian of the Romanian Crown, HM Margareta.
