New York Red Bull’s Albanian player, Adri Mehmeti, was a good option for the red and black national team, but Mehmeti was recruited by Pochettino to the USA. After the invitation, Mehmeti could not hide his emotions.
“For me, watching the World Cup, especially the US team and everything related to it, gave me a special emotion.
Every time they scored, every time they put the ball in the net, I felt a little thrill of joy. I would watch them and think to myself, ‘I hope one day I can be there and have the opportunity to represent the US national team.’
“The invitation to join the team was really exciting, because it’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid and I used to watch them play. I’m really excited,” said 17-year-old Mehmeti.
