A person with a confirmed case of the measles may have exposed others at Denver’s Union Station and a hotel in Steamboat Springs, state health officials announced Friday.
People may have been exposed to the measles if they were at:
- Denver Union Station, 1701 Wynkoop St., between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
- La Quinta Inn, 3155 Ingles Lane in Steamboat Springs, between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
People who were exposed may develop measles symptoms through Oct. 7, including fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash that usually starts several days later on the face and spreads. Anyone who develops symptoms should call their health care provider and report the symptoms to their local public health agency or the state public health department at 720-653-3369.
The person, who was visiting Colorado, is the second measles case confirmed this week. A visitor with measles spent time in north metro Denver, including on Pearl Street Mall in Boulder and a hotel in Westminster, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced Tuesday.
Colorado public health officials had confirmed 25 measles cases as of Sept. 15 this year, which is down from this time last year, when the state had confirmed 31 cases. State data has not yet been updated to reflect the new case.
Of those 25 confirmed cases, 22 were in people who had not been vaccinated, and 19 cases were in children and teens younger than 18, CDPHE data shows.
