UK pulls off upset at No. 9 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas —

The Will Stein Era at Kentucky has a signature win.

The Cats travelled to College Station, Texas, on Saturday and knocked off No. 9 Texas A&M 31-21.

Tied at seven at the half, Kentucky outscored the Aggies 21-0 in the third quarter.

Kenny Minchey connected with freshman Kenny Darby for a 42 yard touchdown to put the Cats in front 14-7. Minchey finished 14-18 for 252 yards and two touchdowns.

C.J. Baxter added two short touchdown runs to increase the lead to 28-7. Baxter had 19 carries for 87 yards.

It is just the second win for UK over Texas A&M, and their first 1952, when Paul “Bear” Bryant was the Cats head coach.

Kentucky (2-1) is back home next Saturday, the Cats host South Alabama (1-1) at 12:45 p.m. on the SEC Network.
