Tara Jovanović, a master’s student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, warned in “Impression of the Week”, which was broadcast for the first time on N1 television, the opposition parties to take care not to be left without their representatives in the National Assembly after the extraordinary parliamentary elections on October 25, while the leader of the Solidarity movement Goran Jesic from the coalition ““European Serbia” claims that this list is sure to pass the census.
Jovanovic said that the students expect to win the majority on their own, but at the same time they believe that each party must assess the risk of falling below the threshold and wasting votes.
Competitors or allies
Candidate on the student list, assistant professor of the Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Belgrade, Nemanja Karović, estimated that the relationship between the student movement and the opposition parties will change during the campaign, because they will find themselves in the role of competitors in the elections.
That is why it was possible to hear criticism from opposition leaders in the past few days, including claims that a parliament with only the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and the Student List would mean the end of political pluralism.
Karović assessed such assessments as exaggerated and said that the Student Movement can be described as a “movement of many minds”, while its opposite is a “movement of the mindless”, alluding to SNS.
European voters
On the other hand, Ješić claims that among citizens there is a significant number of those who want a clearly profiled pro-European policy and who have reservations about certain positions of the Student List.
Faced with the question about the risk of European Serbia not passing the census, Ješić said that at the moment they “completely certainly” expect to enter the parliament.

And the European opposition should, if the presidential elections are called after the parliamentary elections, should support the candidate of the Student List as the largest opposition list and in that way it would be shown that they are the real support for the students.
PSG: Risk of wasting votes
Member of the Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) in the Belgrade Assembly, Stefan Simić, said that the decision to support the student list was made due to the assessment that an independent exit would carry the risk of wasting votes.
According to him, the research conducted by PSG showed that his voters are currently mostly determined to vote for the student list. As an example, he stated that all 125 respondents who rated PSG president Pavle Grbović highly at the same time said that they would vote for the Student List.
Who goes to the polls, and who supports the student list
The Student List has so far been supported by numerous parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition political actors, among them the Democratic Party, the Green-Left Front, the Movement of Free Citizens, the People’s Movement of Serbia, the New Face of Serbia and the Ecological Uprising.
There are also opposition parliamentary parties that run for elections alongside the student list. The “European Serbia” coalition is made up of the Freedom and Justice Party, Serbia Center and the Solidarity movement, while the “Authentic Right” coalition, made up of the New Democratic Party of Serbia and the Monarchists, is also running for election.
Without consent
There was no agreement even within the parties themselves about whether the opposition parties should participate in the elections.
First, the “People’s Serbia” coalition, which consisted of the People’s Movement of Serbia, the New Face of Serbia and the Ecological Uprising, faced this. Members of the leadership decided that they did not want to be on the electoral list, while a number of local committees did the same, which resulted in the coalition withdrawing from the electoral process and supporting the Student List.

The “European Serbia” coalition faced a similar problem. Its electoral list does not include MPs Borko Stefanović, Jelena Milošević, Peđa Mitrović, Goran Petrović, Mila Popović and Slobodan Petrović, while several local committees of the SRCE party do not agree with the coalition’s participation in the elections and have requested support for the student list.
