South Korean swimmer Kim Young-beom won the gold medal in the men’s 50-meter freestyle race on Monday, grabbing the nation’s first gold in swimming at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The 20-year-old came in first in the final race on Monday at the Tokyo Aquatics Center with a time of 21-point-66 seconds, an Asian Games record.
South Korea has now grabbed the gold in the event at a second consecutive Asian Games.
Kim now holds the greatest number of medals in the South Korean delegation, having won a silver medal the previous day in the men’s 100-meter freestyle event.
