A record-high one-point-14 million people are expected to flock to Incheon International Airport over the Chuseok holiday.
The Incheon International Airport Corporation says it expects a daily average of 228-thousand passengers to travel through the airport from September 23 to 27.
The expected daily average is four-point-eight percent higher than last year’s average of 218-thousand passengers a day, representing what could be the highest number of passengers ever recorded for a Chuseok period.
Sunday of next week is projected to be the busiest day at the airport, with more than 247-thousand travelers anticipated.
To manage the holiday rush, Incheon International Airport is implementing special transportation measures such as opening departure halls 30 minutes earlier than usual to prevent checkpoint bottlenecks and adding more security screening personnel.
To increase passenger convenience, 96 stores — including duty-free shops, food and beverage outlets, and lounges — will operate 24 hours a day during the holiday period.
Parking spaces will also be expanded, along with shuttle bus operations between Terminal 2’s long-term parking lot and the passenger terminal.
