South Korea’s women’s national badminton team has advanced to the semifinals of the 20th Asian Games and will face Japan on Wednesday for a place in the finals.
The team, which is led by coach Park Joo-bong and includes Olympic gold medalist An Se-young, defeated Malaysia 3-1 in the quarterfinals held at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
The badminton team event consists of three singles matches and two doubles matches, and the country that wins three of the five matches is the winner.
South Korea is aiming to win its second consecutive Asian Games gold medal in the women’s badminton team event.
Team Korea is seeking to grab a total of three gold medals, one silver and two bronze in badminton at the 20th Asian Games.
