A new pledge from Japan could matter most when temperatures fall, as Kyiv looks for stronger protection before another difficult winter.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi discussed continued support for Ukraine during the full-scale war and areas of bilateral cooperation. Zelenskyy reported this on his official page.

Zelenskyy thanked the Japanese prime minister for her assistance, including energy support packages, sanctions decisions, and humanitarian projects.
It was very important to hear that the assistance will continue. Japan also has advanced technologies to protect lives, particularly in air defense, which could help Ukraine get through next winter if Russia once again rejects negotiations.

The two sides also discussed areas in which Ukraine and Japan could strengthen their cooperation. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is ready to share its own experience and technologies on a mutually beneficial basis.
Particular attention was paid to Japanese technologies for protecting people’s lives and strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. According to the president, such assistance could be especially important ahead of next winter.
