President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić he stated that during the conversation with the high representative of the European Union for foreign policy and security Kayom Kalas in New York there was also talk of the upcoming elections in Serbia. As he told Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS), Kalas did not complain or ask her for anything, but wanted to point out what he considers inappropriate in the election campaign.

“I didn’t really understand what kind of campaign it is when you threaten your biggest political opponent with rape in prison, and that from the official account of the students of the University of Belgrade, i.e. the Faculty of Dramatic Arts,” said Vučić.

He stated that he considered it his duty to speak about the protection of women in Serbia, saying that women are “the foundation of our society” and that they should not be threatened because of a different political opinion.

Vučić assessed the conversation with Kalas as honest and open. In addition to the election, the topics of discussion were the case of Ratko Mladić, Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the fulfillment of obligations from the Brussels Agreement.

“I insisted, in particular, on the establishment of the Union of Serbian Municipalities,” said Vučić.

Speaking earlier in New York about the latest public opinion polls, Vucic said that “the match is uncertain” but that he did not want to comment on the polls.

“That the blocking list is the one that has no policy whatsoever, and that they have an advantage and it will be difficult to catch up. We will do our best and try to catch up to them until the last moment,” said the President of Serbia.

Vučić is in New York on the occasion of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he will address on September 23.
