South Korea’s national baseball team has advanced to the Super Round after beating Thailand in the final Group B match at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where they aim to secure their fifth consecutive gold medal.
The team, led by manager Ryu Ji-hyun, defeated Thailand 18-1 on Wednesday at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Baseball Stadium, located some 50 kilometers southeast of Nagoya.
Wednesday’s match ended under a 15-mercy rule, meaning a game ends early if a team leads by 15 or more runs after five innings.
The latest win put Team Korea at the very top of Group B, as the team had defeated Hong Kong 13-0 on Tuesday and Taiwan 5-0 on Monday.
By winning all three games in the group phase, Team Korea has earned a berth in the Super Round, where it will face the top two qualifiers of Group A on Friday and Saturday.
The top two teams out of the Super Round will vie for the gold medal, while the bottom two will compete for the bronze medal.
