A first-of-its-kind discovery has raised questions about how the aircraft reached a field near a Moldovan village, while experts work to establish its identity.
Wreckage of a drone with features characteristic of the Russian Gerbera drone was found in Moldova’s Florești District. Moldova’s General Police Inspectorate called it the first discovery of this type of aircraft in the country.

The wreckage was found in a field near a farm not far from the village of Cernitsa. According to police, the drone was equipped with an onboard camera. Experts’ preliminary assessment is that the aircraft may have collided with a tree, fallen to the ground and exploded. No one was injured.

Law enforcement officers are working to determine the aircraft’s exact model and manufacturer, its technical specifications and the circumstances of the incident. Specialized examinations are expected to confirm its identity.
