President Lee Jae Myung arrived in Mexico City on Wednesday, local time, for a state visit after wrapping up his schedule at the United Nations in New York.
During his four-day visit, Lee will hold a summit with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to discuss bilateral cooperation, including in trade, investment and supply chains.
He is expected to attend a number of other events before departing the country on Saturday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Lee addressed the 81st UN General Assembly and reaffirmed his vision of acting as a “pacemaker” for peace on the Korean Peninsula, pledging to support the swift resumption of dialogue between the United States and North Korea.
Lee held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the event, and the two leaders expressed their mutual commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation on key issues, such as Seoul’s pursuit of nuclear-powered submarines and its rights to enrich uranium and reprocess spent nuclear fuel.
Lee also held a summit with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese while at the UN gathering.
