On September 26, a three-act production of the classic ballet Don Quixote will take place in the square near the medieval Paphos Castle in Cyprus. The National Ballet of Slovenia will perform on an open-air stage together with two leading artists of the Bolshoi Theatre, Cyprus Mail reports. The performance is scheduled to begin at 20:00.
Lead performers
The roles of Basilio and Kitri will be performed by Bolshoi Theatre principal dancer Igor Tsvirko and Bolshoi Theatre prima ballerina Kristina Kretova. Both artists have previously performed in Cyprus.
The production will be presented by the ballet company of the Slovenian National Theatre in Maribor. This will be the company’s third visit to Cyprus and its first turn to the major classical repertoire during its tours of the island. Previously, the company brought the ballet Zorba, as well as the productions Radio & Juliet and Proof, to Cyprus.
