ATLANTA, GA – Delta is adding more ways and more time to experience Europe with new nonstop service from Detroit to Athens, Greece, and Boston to Venice, Italy, joining Delta’s previously announced route from Austin to Paris, according to a September 25 news release. The airline is also extending its transatlantic season, with several popular routes starting earlier in the spring or continuing deeper into the fall and winter.

“Customers continue to seek more flexibility, convenience and choice when traveling to Europe, whether they are planning a spring escape, a summer vacation or a fall getaway,” said Jeff Arinder, Delta’s Vice President of International Network Planning. “By adding new European destinations from Detroit and Boston, establishing Austin as a new gateway to Europe and extending service on several popular routes, we’re giving customers more choice, greater flexibility and more opportunities to travel when and how they want.”

In addition to Delta’s nonstop destinations, partnerships with Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic and other airline partners give customers access to hundreds of destinations across Europe through a seamless travel experience.

    Detroit meets Athens

Beginning June 8, 2027, Delta will launch three-times-weekly nonstop service between Detroit and Athens, operating through October 28.

“For the first time at DTW [Detroit Metro Airport], travelers in Southeast Michigan will have nonstop access to Athens, one of the world’s most iconic destinations,” said Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton. “We appreciate Delta Air Lines’ continued investment in Detroit and are excited about the new opportunities this service will create for tourism, business and cultural connections.”

Athens will become Delta’s 12th unique long-haul destination from Detroit during the peak summer season, as well as its seventh destination in continental Europe. The new flight will also make Detroit Delta’s fourth U.S. gateway to the Greek capital.

With connections available to more than 40 U.S. destinations through Detroit, the route will open a convenient new path to Greece for customers across Delta’s network.

Flights will operate aboard an Airbus A330-200 featuring Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main experiences.
